This one day workshop will give novelists, playwrights and screen-writers a new physical understanding of how to build character.
The first half of the day will be learning the language of the chakra centers, complete with a yoga based warm-up and exercises on your feet that will help you diagnose your own energetic personality. The second half of the class will apply this diagnostic language onto a character that you are writing or have written. This class is an opportunity to develop the characters that you are shaping now. Be prepared to bring in your own material. There will be spontaneous writing during the class, to encourage embodied language.
Register Now!*Lauren Feldman is an internationally produced playwright, a collaborator and dramaturg of ensemble work, and a playwriting professor; she holds an M.F.A. from the Yale School of Drama. In 2010, she fell in love with theater and circus as a hybrid art form through the Brooklyn ensemble LAVA; soon she began creating theatrical circus duets with Megan Gendell, whereupon she moved to Vermont for the two-year Intensive and Professional-Track Training Programs at the New England Center for Circus Arts. Lauren recently served as a Circus Dramaturgy panelist at the Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival, she is in the midst of creating an evening-length ensemble theater/circus show called Tinder & Ash, and she is writing two new plays. www.tinderandash.com
