“There is an enormous tendency to pathologize Vets…and I don’t want Vets pathologized. I would rather them have opportunities for creative expression of difficult subjects.” -Everett Cox, Veteran/Actor
The Behavior Change Process used in the Veterans Project was developed by Mgunga Mwa Mnyenyelwa after years of developing a style of theatre for social change in the streets of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Inspired by Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed, Mgunga founded one of the most powerful activist theatre companies in the world, the Parapanda Arts Theater Lab. Fay worked with him for two years in Tanzania and has brought this work into the Veterans Project as a means to glean the essential concerns from a community in order to form a theatre piece that best represents these problems.
This is wonderful thank you. I’m a vet and would like to know how to bring this light to Miami
