LUCID Outreach

The Lucid Body is going into the community, to use its practices to help facilitate conscious communication in therapeutic environments.

The Lucid Body Winter Open House collected and  donated 200 cans of food to Broadway Community”s Food Bank. This collection will become an annual event.

Jamie Milward, certified Lucid Body teacher, has worked for the past two years with survivors of trauma, exploring the therapeutic efficacy of The Lucid Body in group and individual work.  Focus is on the release of trauma and anxiety from the body, learning healthy expression of emotion, and promoting self-awareness and acceptance.  She has created original performances with residents of an emergency shelter, empowering participants to expand role repertoire and explore community healing through theater.Jamie is now facilitating Lucid Body Workshops in Houston, TX.

Bellvue Rape Crisis Advocate workshop; October, 2007.

The Rape Crisis Advocates at Bellevue Hospital Center require a delicate understanding of the human body as well as psyche. In the Lucid Body workshop for the advocates, in training, in October, 2007 it was our goal to provide each advocate with a unique understanding of themselves in relation to their physical language when they are called on to help those in trauma. Various exercises and mediations took place which allowed the participants to learn about and understand the many different kinds of people in need and the different tactics that can be used to help them. In addition the trainees were given the valuable opportunity to acknowledge the parts of themselves that have been ignored, which is the one of the first things that needs to be done before they can fully offer their compassion to the sexual assault survivors that need their help.
